Found Poetry from 9/11

Our oems were created using words and phrases from "portraits" written about victims of 9/11. Mychal Judge and Kevin Pfeifer were featured in the 9/11 documentary we watched in class. Please ask your student to explain more about these two great men!

1st Period's first poem:

Mychal Judge

He never shut his door
or his attentive ear.

He could speak and sing
He had movie star looks.
and his pantamime
Made the people laugh.

Comforting others
He was the first one there.

Consistent devotion
He went where he was needed.

He faced the inferno…
With the firefighters.

Mychal Judge.

5th period's:

Mychal Judge

He was always where he was needed

He never shut his
door to
anybody with the slightest need
for the contents inside.

Father Judge
comforted firefighters
and drove hell-bent to emergencies.
He handed out blankets
and coffee
and jokes.

He had movie star looks
and a tremendous ability to speak
and sing.

Father Judge was devotes to
being a priest.
He went to
soup kitchens,
Gracie mansions,
the White House,
baptisms and
funerals.
His cashmere - and other physical things -
went to the poor.

Father Judge listened intently
to troubled souls
for as long as it took.

On September 11,
Father Judge faced the
INFERNO
with the firefighters.

A true hero.

1st Period's 2nd poem:

Kevin Pfeifer

Quiet, thoughtful
Yet loved adventure

He shouted with his life…
Not his mouth.

He had a close circle of friend
and organized a legendary bash.
He loved to
Fly…
Sail…
Drive….
FAST.
He loved to race.
He loved adventure.

He quietly brought out the best in people
and knew that fun was where you made it.

He and his brother
Exchanged a quick word
and glance…
in the lobby of Tower 1.

Kevin Pfeifer.

5th Period's 2nd poem:

Kevin Pfeifer

Quiet
Thoughtful
Yet...
He loved adventure.

He enjoyed
flying...
sailing...
and driving...
FAST.
Kevin shouted with his life -
not through his words.

He had a close circle of friends.
And he quietly brought out the best in people.

He was a NYC paramedic and
later a fire fighter.

On September 11,
In the lobby of Tower 1,
he spotted his brother.
They said a quick word
and exchanged glances
before they parted
for the last time.

Kevin Pfeifer...
A true hero.
